Visitors to the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire will be able to watch true Knights in action during the annual Jousting Games Event held by the Intermountain Renaissance Arts Foundation and the Knights of Honor.
This heroic contest will pit bold knights against one another in a gallant display of horsemanship, nerves of steel, and, of course, chivalry.
The competition for Skill at Arms Games for the 2015 season is now open!
Competitors will compete for the full weekend and total scores will be determined by the average. This is a timed event in which knights will have to compete in a series of three events, to be performed in a gauntlet style.
The competition will begin with Knights having received their ring lance and heading down the list. The time will start once the knight has crossed the threshold. Each knight will attempt to capture three rings with their lance, turn around, come down the other side of the list, and attempt to capture three more rings. Knights will then drop their ring lances and squires will hand them a spear. Proceeding down one side of the field, the Knights will attempt to throw the spear at a demarcated target, before continuing down the field to receive back their lance. Finally, the Knights will have to attempt to hit the quintain – which is when the timer will stop.
At the end of each weekend, the total points will be averaged, and the top 7 will go to the Grand Championship to be held the final weekend. The competition does not include full contact and is open to anyone brave enough and access to a horse to come win prizes and honor.
You will need to provide your own horse, and all necessary equipment for riding and care of your horse, for a three day event. ie: Tack, Feed, coral panels, and the such. If coral panels are needed, some may be provided at an additional fee.
Competition Fee: $30.00 (This does not cover Horse accommodations if needed)
